I was travelling in a group of four
with my wife and my parents and
wanted to experience the spectacular
Halong Bay in luxury so after search
the internet I decided the Jasmine
would be ideal. I booked early
directly with JasmineCruises.com,
the owners of the boat, who matched
the best price I could find online
and we didn't have to pay anything
until checkout.
Jasmine has 2 suites and we booked
both of them for the 2 night
package. The suites have private
balconies, king size beds which face
out to sea, unlike the other rooms,
and a large bathroom with separate
shower and corner Jacuzzi with a
window to view the stunning scenery.
We found the service to be
excellent, the staff were friendly
and had a good sense of humour, it
was a very enjoyable and memorable
stay.
After boarding Jasmine you are
treated to about 6 courses of lunch
before seeing the surprise cave and
visiting a floating fishing village.
Dinner is buffet style but the food
quality is excellent and so fresh,
we all loved the sea bass. They
didn't even charge us corkage when
we brought our own wine for dinner
that we had picked up on our way to
Vietnam at the duty free!
I would strongly recommend the 2
night tour if you want time to relax
and take in the views, you are
transferred to the day boat on your
second day while Jasmine does the
standard day tour and we actually
had the boat to ourselves! We
cruised around Halong Bay, had
another huge lunch and went kayaking
before lounging on the sundeck. The
day boat also avoided the regular
tourist boats and it felt like we
were just sharing the water with the
occasional tiny fishing boat. On the
final morning you have a chance to
do the early Tai Chi before
breakfast and then have the
opportunity to climb many steps up
one of the islands (can't remember
the name) but the views were
amazing, even on a cool rainy
morning.
If you are looking for a luxury boat
then Jasmine must be one of the best
although the same company have just
launched a new boat called
Halong Violet Cruise and it
looks amazing.
halong jasmine was organised and
professional. good english speaking
staff with a professional approach
to service. the vessel itself was
modern, clean, and luxurious. the
food was superb. how do they produce
such good food in such vast
quantities in such a short space of
time ? once we were on board we
could just relax and know that the
staff were taking care of things.
sitting on the balcony watching the
world of halong bay go by as we
slowly made our way through the
islands was just what the doctor
ordered. looking at all the other
junks on the water around us, we
were glad to be on halong jasmine
and not on them. the vessel is about
2 or 3 years old, and it's fitout
matches . just great. the safes were
easy to use, and still worked. the
little side trips were well
organised and ran smoothly. thank
